Which Charge Controller for solar project?
I decided to convert my 1972 Ford Champion RV in a green machine. It will be a series project, but I guess you have to start somewhere. I purchased 2 24v 20w Solar Panels, and I want to connect to my RV. This initial job will keep the battery charged, but later to load a set of batteries to run electric appliances (mainly interior lighting). Currently, I only bought the two solar panels. I guess the charge controller should be next. Should I just buy a controller charging cheap and lose some of the efficiency of solar panels (I assume I will lose some charge when the panels down to match the battery voltage) ... or should I choose the more expensive MPPT charge controller. Another note ... which device should I use for solar panels automatically switch the entire Battery Charge after the second batter started is fully charged? Thank you in advance.
MPPT is a power loss at these levels. Generally, you have only to monitor power when the table is 500W or more. In fact, a total of 40W, you may be able to get away without charge controller - you put less than 2 amps into the battery.
