Buying green: solar panels, hybrids, wind turbines.
Is the government trying to scare people into buying green by saying that global warming is around? If so, is it just for money for themselves?
I think it is just human nature to kind of exaggerate things a little when you believe in someting so strong. So it might be a little bit to scare you into going green or just push you into being swayed into looking at their belief more. So you will see things like "big dramatic increase in yearly hurricanes over the last 100 years". Hurricanes have increased but to say a big dramatic increase is probably a little much, but that is usually the kinds of phrases used when you hear comments on global warming. To me a big increase would be quit a bit more than just the 3 or 4 hurricane per year increase in one hundrend years. I would take those hyped up phrases with a grain of salt. Right now there is a radio commercial about global warming and some lady says "the changes in weather caused by global warming may seem small right now." Then you turn around and hear the news media use phrases like "big dramatic change". So which is it, a small or large change.
There is global warming but over the last 100 years it has gone up only about half of a degree, pretty small change. In the past the earth has seen much more dramatic changes in temperatures in a 100 year span. The problem is co2 emitions are going to happen and that is not going to change much for a long time. Alternative power sorces are just not very good at all right now. Solar power is just not that strong. If it were strong enough to give us a good power supply then our skin would start burning the minute we walked outside. Solar rays have to be gentle because it shines on so much of the earths surface at one time.
People are fooling themselves if they think co2 emitions are going to go down anytime soon. Also, some are fooling themselves into thinking the change in climate over the last 100 years was really that dramatic.
