Vent Greenhouse
What greenhouse accessories are a must?
I have a basic greenhouse (base, one roof vent, sliding door) being delivered tomorrow. What accessories do I need?
Dibber. Vermiculite. Plenty of 3" pots for potting on seedlings, but I think peat pots are better as they minimise root disturbance when planting out.
You'll need to get some staging (shelving) as well to increase your space in the greenhouse. You can buy the pricey staging, but I find getting the cheap plastic self-assembly shelving from places like Wickes are more than adequate and just put some MDF on top.
I'd also get a cheap plastic bowl for making up compost mixes, plenty of plastic cell trays, and an absolute must is a small watering can (the type that you would use indoors for houseplants) as large ones tend to give out too much water.
You'll also need to get some screening for the summer months to block out the rays of the sun. It's a bit like whitewash that you apply to the glass during the summer to cut heat down, and then wash off in the Autumn and Winter when light levels are low. Conversely, by adding a small paraffin or electric heater you'll be able to to keep sowing and growing right the way through the Winter months and over-winter plants. Horticultural fleece is also useful in this respect.
Other than that, it really does depend what you're intending on growing. You'll want some growbags if you're doing fruit or veg such as tomatoes or cucumbers.

NB - Just thought of one more thing that is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. Plant labels, and lots of them. There is nothing worse than potting up your plants, letting them grow on a bit and then not being able to remember what you've got growing, or what variety.
